Aims & Scope

International Journal of Multidisciplinary Research and Confluence

The International Journal of Multidisciplinary Research and Confluence is being established as a scholarly platform for research that connects knowledge across academic disciplines.

The journal recognizes that many important research questions cannot be fully explored from a single disciplinary perspective. Advances in technology, changes in society, economic development, environmental challenges, education, health, culture, governance, and other contemporary issues often involve interconnected questions that require more than one way of thinking.

Our aim is therefore to provide a space where different disciplines, perspectives, methods, and ideas can meet.

We welcome original scholarly research that contributes to knowledge within a discipline, across disciplines, or at the intersection of multiple fields.

Our Aim

The journal aims to encourage meaningful scholarly exchange across disciplinary boundaries and to support research that offers new knowledge, perspectives, evidence, or approaches.

In particular, the journal seeks to:

  • Encourage multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research.

  • Provide a platform for original and meaningful scholarly contributions.

  • Promote connections between different academic fields.

  • Encourage research addressing contemporary academic and practical questions.

  • Support the exchange of ideas among researchers from diverse backgrounds.

  • Provide a forum for emerging areas of research that cross traditional disciplinary boundaries.

  • Encourage responsible, transparent, and academically rigorous scholarship.

Law, Governance and Public Policy

Research concerning law, governance, public administration, regulation, public policy, human rights, institutions, and related social and legal questions.

Emerging and Cross-Disciplinary Fields

The journal welcomes research in emerging areas that do not fit neatly within traditional disciplinary categories, particularly where the research creates meaningful connections between established fields.

Multidisciplinary Research

Multidisciplinary research brings together knowledge or perspectives from two or more disciplines to examine a common research problem.

Such research may involve researchers from different fields working alongside one another while contributing their respective disciplinary perspectives.

For example, a study of digital education may draw upon education, psychology, technology, and social science. Research on sustainable urban development may involve environmental science, engineering, economics, planning, and public policy.

The journal welcomes research where these connections provide a meaningful contribution to the study.

Interdisciplinary Research

Interdisciplinary research goes beyond simply bringing different disciplines together. It may integrate concepts, theories, methods, or analytical approaches from multiple fields to develop a more connected understanding of a research problem.

The journal particularly welcomes work in which such integration is central to the research question, methodology, analysis, or contribution.

Authors should clearly explain the relationship between the disciplines involved and the contribution resulting from their integration.

Research at the Confluence of Disciplines

The concept of confluence is central to the identity of the journal.

We are interested in research where academic perspectives meet and where connections between fields can generate new questions, interpretations, methods, or solutions.

Examples of potential areas of intersection include:

  • Technology × Education

  • Artificial Intelligence × Society

  • Business × Psychology

  • Economics × Sustainability

  • Environment × Public Policy

  • Health × Technology

  • Law × Technology

  • Culture × Communication

  • Engineering × Environmental Studies

  • Data Science × Social Sciences

These examples illustrate the journal's approach and are not restrictions on the subjects that may be considered.

What Makes a Manuscript Suitable?

A manuscript may be appropriate for the journal when it demonstrates several of the following characteristics:

Original Contribution

The research offers original findings, analysis, interpretation, methodology, theory, or another meaningful scholarly contribution.

Clear Research Question

The study addresses a clearly defined research problem, question, objective, or area of inquiry.

Appropriate Research Approach

The methodology and analytical approach are appropriate for the research being undertaken.

Scholarly Engagement

The manuscript engages with relevant academic literature and establishes its contribution in relation to existing knowledge.

Meaningful Connection

Where a manuscript is multidisciplinary or interdisciplinary, the relationship between the relevant fields should contribute to the research rather than being merely incidental.

Broader Relevance

The findings or discussion have relevance beyond a very narrow context where appropriate and can contribute to wider academic understanding.

What We Do Not Aim to Publish

The journal is intended for scholarly research and is therefore not designed for material that is primarily:

  • Promotional or commercial in nature

  • Opinion without a substantive scholarly basis

  • Unrelated to the journal's academic scope

  • Unsupported by appropriate evidence or analysis

  • Submitted simultaneously to another journal

  • Plagiarized or improperly attributed

  • Presented without sufficient academic or research context

A manuscript may fall within one of the subject areas listed above but still be unsuitable if it does not meet the journal's overall scholarly objectives.

For Prospective Authors

Before submitting a manuscript, authors should consider whether their work makes a clear contribution to scholarship and whether it fits the journal's multidisciplinary or interdisciplinary orientation.

A paper does not need to combine multiple disciplines simply to qualify for consideration. High-quality research within a particular field may also be appropriate when it falls within the journal's scope and contributes meaningfully to knowledge.

At the same time, when a study genuinely crosses disciplinary boundaries, authors are encouraged to make those connections explicit.

For detailed requirements concerning manuscript preparation and submission, please consult the Author Submission Guidelines.
